Singles Qualifying Draw Results-Day One Get Acrobat Reader

EAST LANSING, Mich.--Sophomore Megan Martzolf advanced to the third round in the qualifying draw at the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional.

The ITA Midwest Regional consists of a singles qualifying draw, a singles main draw and a doubles main draw. Those representatives who finish in the top-eight in the qualifying draw on Thursday and Friday will proceed on from onto the main draw beginning on Saturday.

Martzolf defeated Ohio State's Julie Voss, 6-3, 6-1 in the opening round and went on to defeat Illinois' Christine Stromberg 7-6 (5), 6-2 in the second round. One more win in the qualifying draw will advance Martolf to the singles main draw. She faces Michigan State's Ana Milosavljevic on Friday.

Freshman Riekie Honiball and junior Brintney Larson each won their first round matches in the qualifying draw. Honiball downed Cleveland State's Charlotte Gibbons 6-1, 6-1, while Larson defeated IPFW's Amy Recht 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Indiana State's Sofya Lifanova defeated Honiball in the second round, 6-4, 7-6 (3), while Illinois' Chelcie Abajian defeated Larson in the second round, 6-1, 6-2.

Play continues at the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional on Friday with singles qualifying draw and doubles action.
