ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Two Miami University women's tennis players have advanced to the Singles Main Draw Consolation Bracket at the ITA Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Michigan.
Freshman Anastasia Dracheva soared through the Single Qualifying Bracket, posting a 6-2, 6-1 win against Emily Lawent of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a 6-0, 6-2 win against Drake's Irena Kalashnikova and a 6-1, 6-2 win against UIC's Ilinca Cristescu to advance to the field of 64 in the Singles Main Draw.
Dracheva and sophomore Brintney Larson lost in the first round of the Main Draw. Iowa's Milica Veselinovic edged Dracheva 6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-1, while Ohio State's Paloma Escobedo outlasted Larson 6-0, 5-7, 6-4. Both Dracheva and Larson moved to the Singles Main Draw Consolation Bracket.
Larson and freshman Megan Martzolf lost in the first round of the Doubles Main Draw with Iowa's Veselinovic and Merel Beelen topping them, 8-6.
Martzolf advanced through one round in the Qualifying Draw, defeating Toledo's Maha Guirguis 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-0. Illinois' Marisa Lambropoulos defeated Marzolf in the second round, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.
