Final Stats

CINCINNATI--Winning both doubles draws and at Draw 1, Draw 2 and Draw 3 in singles play, Miami University's women's tennis team put forth another dominant effort at the Queen City Invitational Oct. 5-7. The RedHawks also captured the Sportsmanship Trophy at the event.

There was no team scoring at the invitational.

Freshman Anastasia Dracheva won Draw 1 Singles. She defeated Bowling Green's Kelsey Jakupcin 6-3, 6-0 before pulling out a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 win against Akron's Amy Sherlock. Dracheva downed Kennesaw State's Madeleine Hakansson 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the finals where she defeated Bowling Green's Christine Chiricosta 6-3, 6-4.

In Draw 2 Singles, Megan Martzolf cruised through the bracket defeating Xavier's Kaitlyn Zinn 6-3, 6-3, Cincinnati's Jenny Rowen 6-1, 6-1 and Bowling Green's Katia Babina 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the championship match. Martzolf topped Cincinnati's Valeriya Dandik 6-2, 6-0 in the finals.

It was an all-Miami final in Draw 3 Singles as seniors Kelly Douple and Leda Pesatova battled it out in the championship match. Douple defeated Akron's Alyssa Carlson (6-3, 6-0), Bowling Green's Jenna Nussbaum (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) and Xavier's Jeannette Feider (6-2, 6-2) to advance to the finals. Pesatova downed Eastern Kentucky's Maggie Gleason (6-0, 6-0), Ball State's Haly Calderwood (6-0, 6-1) and Xavier's Jill Ducro (6-2, 6-2) to advance to the championship match where she topped Douple 6-2, 6-2.

Junior Victoria Pulido advanced to the semifinals of Draw 4 Singles off a 6-3, 6-3 win against Bowling Green's Libby Harrison and a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win against Xavier's Christie Pleiman. Xavier's Kelsey Kinnard defeated Pulido in the semifinals, 6-4, 6-0.

Sophomore Brintney Larson and Martzolf teamed up to win Draw 1 Doubles. They defeated Bowling Green's double's team 8-4, Cincinnati's doubles tandem 8-1 and Akron's double's team 8-6 before downing Eastern Kentucky's Draw 1 double's team 8-1.

 

 

Pulido and Dracheva paired up to win Draw 2 Doubles. The duo defeated Akron's double's team 8-2, Eastern Kentucky's double's tandem 8-4 and Bowling Green's double's team 8-6 to advance to the final match. They topped Cincinnati's Draw 2 double's team 8-2 to win the bracket.

Miami will compete at the ITA Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich., Oct. 18-20.
