YPSILANTI, Mich.--Behind a 5-2 win at Eastern Michigan on Saturday, April 5, Miami University's women's tennis team extended its win streak to five straight, all coming in Mid-American Conference play.

The RedHawks (11-5; 5-0 MAC), who finished a lengthy nine-match road stretch with Saturday's win, are off to their best league start since the 1998-99 team went 9-0 in the MAC. The Eagles dropped to 6-12 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Miami swept doubles play to pick up the first point of the match. Sophomore Brintney Larson and freshman Anastasia Dracheva tallied an 8-2 win against EMU's Vanessa Frankowski and Catharina Bestehorn at No. 1 doubles. Senior Leda Pesatova and freshman Sydnee Bridger posted an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles against EMU's Sandra Wikstrom and Aleksandra Stankovic, while senior Kelly Douple and freshman Megan Martzolf captured an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles against Aditi Krishnan and Joanna Woo (EMU).

Larson edged Krishnan in a three-set win at No. 2 doubles. After dropping the first set, 4-6, Larson came back with 7-5, 7-5 wins in the next two sets to earn the victory and improve to 5-0 in MAC play. Pesatova notched a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles over EMU's Bestehorn. Douple moved to 5-0 in MAC action with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the fourth flight against EMU's Wikstrom, while Pulido earned a 6-2, 6-3 win against Woo at No. 6 singles to improve to 3-0 in league action.

Eastern Michigan earned its two points of the match at No. 1 and No. 5 singles. Stankovic defeated Bridger in the fifth flight, 6-1, 6-0, while Frankowski outlasted Miami's Dracheva in three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

The RedHawks return home for the first time since Feb. 17 when they host Bowling Green on Friday, April 11 and Western Michigan on Saturday, April 12. Both matches are scheduled for 1 p.m. Matches will take place on the Hepburn Varsity Courts unless poor weather conditions move the matches to the Riverside Racquet Club in Hamilton, Ohio. Next weekend also is Alumnae Weekend for Miami Women's Tennis.
