Miami leaves the ice after practice. - OTTAWA, Ontario - The Miami University Synchronized Skating Team opened up at the International Skating Union's World Championship's last night in Ottawa, Canada, finishing ninth in the short program with a score of 4.5.

Miami is looking for its fifth top 10 finish at the Worlds in the last six years. Miami's highest ever finish came in 1999 when they finished sixth.

Skating to "The Mission" by Leahy, the team has been working hard since the U.S. Championships to improve even more.

"We've changed a few things, " said coach Vicki Korn. "In the short program we added more content to our moves in the field section and revised the side-by-side spins."

Miami concludes its competition at the World Championships tonight with their free skate program. The RedHawks go off 17th out of 23 teams.
