FRASER, Mich. - The Miami University Senior and Collegiate Synchronized Skating teams swept the Mid-America Team Synchronized Skating Championships at the Great Lakes Sport City in Fraser, Mich., winning by 23.7 and 19.09 points, respectively.

The Senior Team knocked off the Crystallettes, 128.99 to 105.29, while the Collegiate Team's score of 101.07 downed Michigan State University (81.98) and Indiana University (66.95). This marks the second consecutive year Miami has swept the Mid-America Championships

"Both teams made great strides this weekend at the Mid-America's," said head coach Vicki Korn. "After we were able to evaluate and modify our programs the last month, both teams put in a great deal of work. It paid off this weekend as we saw great improvement."

The event was a big step forward for both the Senior and Collegiate Teams as they both improved their scores by over 15 points from their last performances.

The Senior Team heads to Milan, Italy this week where it will compete Friday and Saturday at Spring Cup. Team Marigold Ice Unity (Finland) and Team Surprise (Sweden), the top two finishers at last year's World Championships in Prague, Czech Republic, will be competing versus the Senior team, who finished fourth in the same event.

The Collegiate Team will be off until Feb. 22-24 when it will be joined by the Senior Team at the U.S. Nationals. Both squads will be looking to defend their 2006 National Championships.
