OXFORD, Ohio--Fine tuning their programs as the RedHawks head into the final portion of their season, Miami University's senior synchronized skating team worked with Emmy Award-Winning Choreographer Sarah Kawahara on their free skate program this week.
Kawahara choreographed the 1940s inspired free skate program for the RedHawk senior team in the fall.
Miami is coming off a gold-medal finish at the Midwestern Championships last weekend and competes at the Neuchatel Trophy in Neuchatel, Switzerland, Feb. 18-20 before heading to the U.S. National Championships to defend its title March 4-6.
"We are going to Neuchatel, Switzerland in February as our international assignment and both the junior and senior teams will be there," said Miami University Head Synchronized Skating Coach Carla DeGirolamo. "I'm really excited about this event because it falls at a really good point in the season for us. It's right before the national championships, and it gives us that last push to keep us fresh in competition mode before we get ton Minneapolis for the national championships. The Neuchatel Trophy is on an Olympic ice surface, and the national championships are also on an Olympic ice surface, so it should continue our training in the right direction as we head into the grand finale of the season."
