FRASER, Mich.--The Miami University senior synchronized skating team captured it's second first-place finish of the season at the Mid-America Championships in Fraser, Mich. with a score of 60.26, finishing 10 points ahead of second place Team Fusion. Team Elan of the Detroit Skating Club finished third followed by the University of Michigan.
"I was very pleased with our performance tonight and I thought our team did a great job," head coach Vicki Korn said. "As a team we skated strong and with speed and I think are making the strides needed to get ready for the tough road ahead. We will go back and look at the judges comments and prepare ourselves for the Mid-Western Championships in a couple weeks."
The event was the senior team's last warm-up before it returns to Fraser, Mich. for the Mid-Western Championships on Jan. 26-29. The Mid-Western Championships will be the event that will qualify Miami for the United States National Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Feb. 22-26.
The Red and White has finished first or second at the U.S. Nationals seven of the last 10 years and advanced on to the World Championships. Last year the team finished a program-best seventh at the ISU World Championships.
