LOWELL, Mass. - The Miami University Junior Synchronized Skating team completed competition this afternoon at the Junior World Qualifier at Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Mass., with a fifth-place finish overall. The RedHawks posted a score of 70.83 in the free skate and combined with last night's results tallied an overall score of 119.14.
Miami came into the free skating competition in fourth place after recording a 48.31 last night in the short program. The Chicago Jazz (154.79) and the host of the event, the Colonials (148.07), took the top two overall spots in the competition, followed by Team Braemar (133.15) and the Skyliners (125.24).
The Junior Team hits the ice next in two weeks along with the Collegiate Team at the Midwestern Synchronized Skating Championships in Geneva, Ill. That same weekend, the Senior Team will represent the United States at the World University Games in Torino, Italy. The Senior Team was last year's U.S. National Champions and finished fourth at the World Championships.
