MILAN, Italy - The Miami University senior synchronized skating team garnered the silver medal at the Spring Cup in Milan, Italy this past week, earning the program's fourth international medal in the last five years and their second silver medal at the Spring Cup.

Miami finished second behind the Russian team Paradise in both the free skate and long program competitions and finished with a score of 3.0. Paradise won the event with a score of 1.5. Hot Shivers, a team from the host country of Italy, finished third overall with a score of 4.5.

"The Spring Cup was another big step on the way to our goal of winning a national championship," said head coach Vicki Korn. "We had some adversity to overcome and I was pleased with the way the team handled it. We skated a strong long program which had been a problem earlier this season. If we stay focused like we were this last weekend, we should be peaking when we reach the Nationals in a couple weeks."

The senior team takes a week off before heading to the United Sates National Championships in San Diego, Calif. on March 4-6. If the senior team finishes in the top two in the United States for the fourth year in a row, it would qualify to participate in the World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia on April 1-3.
