OXFORD, Ohio -

The Miami University synchronized skating teams spent the weekend in events that were 4,296 miles apart, but came away with very similar results.

The RedHawk senior squad captured third place at the French Cup in Rouen, France. Miami accumulated 184.88 points, scoring 70.90 in the short program and 113.98 in the long performance, just behind two Finnish squads. Video of the senior free skate is available by clicking here.

At the United States Figure Skating Midwestern Championships in Nashville, Tennessee, the Miami collegiate and junior teams brought home a pair of first place finishes. In the collegiate free skate, the RedHawks totaled 106.37 points. The junior team finished first with 164.59 total points, scoring 66.26 points in the short program and 98.33 points in the free skate.

The Miami synchronized skating teams next compete at the United States National Championships in Providence, R.I. on Feb. 21-23.

At the event, the senior team will by vying for a national title and qualifying for the 2008 World Championships. The collegiate team will be going for their fourth consecutive national title and the junior team skating for its first medal at the U.S. Championships.
