MILAN, Italy - Miami University's senior synchronized skating team earned a second-place finish out of six teams in the short program at the Spring Cup in Milan, Italy on Saturday, giving the RedHawks one team to overcome during the free-skate/long program competition on Sunday.

The Surprise team from Sweden swept all seven first-place ordinals from the international panel of judges at the International Skating Union-sanctioned meet, while Miami picked up six second-place votes and one third-place nod. That judge's second-place vote went to Team Berlin 1 from Germany, which stands in third, ahead of the Hot Shivers team from Italy, the Cool Dreams team from Switzerland, and the British Team Storm.

On Sunday, Miami skates fifth of the six teams in the long program, which starts at 6 p.m. local time in Italy and noon Eastern in the U.S.
