FRASER, Mich.--On the final day of the Mid-America Championships, Miami University's senior team finished in second place in the free skate. Both teams earned first-place finishes in Saturday's competitions.

Skating their free skate program to music from the 1940s, the RedHawks had one fall which allowed the Crystalettes FSC to capture first place in the senior free skate event. Miami, Western Michigan and Starlights followed the Crystalettes, respectively. (Scores not available at time of release and will be provided later.)

On Saturday, Miami's collegiate team bested its nearest competition by more than 10 points with its Sex and the City themed program. The RedHawks compiled a score of 84.91 with Michigan State finishing second with 73.27 points. Illinois followed in third place with a score of 69.10, while Michigan (67.95), Western Michigan (66.15) and Adrian (54.08) rounded out the collegiate competition field.

The RedHawk senior team, skating their short program to "Romeo and Juliette", posted a score of 63.09 on Saturday evening, edging the Crystalettes FSC, who notched a score of 61.93. Starlights finished in third with a score of 53.19, while Western Michigan rounded out the senior field with a score of 41.67.

All three RedHawk teams return to the ice Jan. 29-30 at the Midwestern Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
