FRASER, Mich.- Miami's senior synchronized skating team earned a second-place finish at the Mid-America Championships on Saturday for its short program performance. While coming up short to the Crystalettes, Miami defeated seven other teams.

Four judges awarded Miami second-place ordinals with four more giving the RedHawks third-place votes and one judge placing the RedHawks fifth. The Crystalettes swept all nine first-place ordinals.

The second-place finish follows the Miami senior team's third-place showing at the Dr. Porter Classic in early December. The team's next competition is at the Midwestern Synchronized Championships in Dallas, Texas, Jan. 28-29, while Miami's collegiate squad skates next weekend at the Bronco Challenge Cup in Kalamazoo, Mich.
