OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's defending Mid-American Conference champion women's swimming and diving team ventures into dangerous waters this weekend, traveling to Toledo on Friday (Nov. 6) and to Bowling Green on Saturday (Nov. 7).

The RedHawks' meet on Friday against the Rockets begins at 5 p.m., while Saturday's competition versus the Falcons starts at 1 p.m.

Miami swept a pair of MAC meets last weekend at home, defeating Buffalo on Friday, 171-129, and Akron on Saturday, 187-111. The RedHawks are 3-2 overall in dual meet competition, including a 2-0 MAC record.

Toledo (6-1, 2-0 MAC) has won 13 of its last 14 home meets, while Bowling Green (0-2 overall, 0-2 MAC) was winless last weekend. 

Last week Miami nominated Leah Thornton (Helena, AL) as the MAC Swimmer of the Week. Thornton won five times for the RedHawks last weekend. On Friday she led off for the winning 200-yard medley relay team and won the 100-yard backstroke. She also finished second in the 200-yard backstroke and as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team. On Saturday Thornton won the 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard butterfly, was a member of the first-place 400-yard medley relay team and finished second in the 200-yard IM. She was Miami's leading scorer over the weekend with a total of 61 points.

Miami hosts Kenyon next Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Nixon Aquatic Center at 2 p.m.
