CLEVELAND - Senior swimmer Emily Nayes (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) was named Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 6, the MAC announced today. A first-team all-MAC selection last year, Nayes finished first in a total of three races at Miami's Nov. 2 meet against Purdue and Nov. 3 meet versus Ball State and Northern Illinois.

Against the Boilermakers, Nayes, a speech pathology major with a 3.63 GPA, touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in a time of 2:22.76. The next day in Oxford Nayes swept the breast events, winning the 100 (1:06.90) and 200 (2:23.69), as Miami crushed the Cardinals and Huskies by scores of 215-85 and 234-66, respectively.

Nayes and the rest of the RedHawks are back in action Friday, Nov. 9 at Wright State.
