OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University swimmers MIKE CARROLL (Jr., Toledo) and Kasey Carpenter (Jr., Cincinnati) have swept Mid-American Conference Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Week honors for their performances at last week's meets.

Carroll, a product of Toledo's St. Francis DeSales High School, posted victories in the 100 breaststroke (59.30) and the 200 breaststroke (2:11.71) in a 148-112 victory over Xavier. Carroll's brothers, John and Pat, were all-MAC swimmers at Miami.

In her debut at Miami since transferring from Wisconsin, Carpenter raced in four total events (in two meets) last week, taking first three times and finishing second in the other race. Her time of 2:01.57 in the 200-backstroke vs. Louisville and Purdue was Miami's third-best time ever, and her time of :57.51 in the 100-backstroke was the eighth-best time ever. Carpenter is a graduate of Cincinnati Hills Academy.

Coach Pete Lindsay's RedHawk men's team (2-0) hosts Purdue this Friday afternoon (6 p.m.) at the Nixon Natatorium.

Miami's women's squad (2-1), coached by Dave Jennings, travels east this weekend, swimming at Buffalo on Friday and at Akron on Saturday.
