Collegeswimming.com has named Kelsey Vehr (Cincinnati, Ohio) to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American Team as well as selecting Megan Brunn (Mansfield, Ohio) and Allison Stevens (Laurel, Md.) as Scholar All-American honorable mentions.

Scholar All-Americans must earn better than a 3.50 grade point average and qualify for the NCAA Championships. Athletes named as honorable mention selections must also earn a 3.50 GPA and record an NCAA consideration time.

Vehr, a rising junior, finished 37th and 46th at the NCAA Championships in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke competitions, respectively. Her MAC-record setting swims at the conference championships of 1:00.48 in the 100 breast and 2:12.22 in the 200 breast would have placed her 15th and 29th, respectively, at the NCAA meet.

At the MAC Championships, Vehr claimed first place in the two events, setting MAC records of 1:00.48 in the 100 breast and 2:12.22 in the 200 breast. Her time in the 100 breast tied for the 19th best time in the nation during the 2008-09 season. Vehr also was a member of the MAC record-setting 400-yard medley relay team and the 200-yard medley relay team that finished second at the conference championship meet. Individually, she posted a third-place finish in the 400 IM as well. For her efforts, she was named First-Team All-MAC.

Brunn, who will be a junior this coming season, and Stevens, a May graduate, were also named First- Team Academic All-MAC as well as Second Team All-MAC.

Brunn finished seventh in the 200-yard IM, and fourth in the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes at the MAC Championship meet. Her times of 1:02.06 in the 100 breast and 2:14.16 in the 200 breast were NCAA consideration times.


 

 

Stevens was a member of the MAC record setting 400-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relay teams that earned NCAA considerations at the conference championship meet. Her second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle also garnered NCAA consideration.At the conference meet she also was a member of the second-place 200-yard and third-place 400-yard free relay teams. Additionally, she earned an eighth-place finish in the 50 free and seventh in 100 free.

The CSCAA also recognized Miami Women's Swimming and Diving as a Scholar All-American Team for the team's 3.20 GPA.
