Oxford, Ohio - Following one of the most successful seasons in program history, Miami's women's swimming and diving team received another accolade Wednesday, April 3, being named 2001-02 Mid-Major Dual Meet Champions by CollegeSwimming.com.
According to the web site's rankings, which takes into account a team's top two times in each swimming event, its best diving scores and its two best relays, the RedHawks came out with 256.49 points, ahead of runner-up George Mason's total of 248.82.
"It's exciting to see us atop the polls," head coach Dave Jennings said. "We competed against some very good schools in the rankings. It tops off an outstanding year for our team."
The RedHawks boasted a program-best 14-1 dual meet record and were 8-0 in the Mid-American Conference, the first time they went undefeated in the MAC since 1997. The season culminated with the team's 12th conference championship.
