Coming off of dual wins against Cincinnati, Miami University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams will face off against Purdue this Saturday at 2 p.m. in West Lafayette, Ind.

Purdue's men's swimming and diving team head into the meet with a 6-2 dual meet record, including a 181-119 win over Michigan State on Jan. 12. Purdue's women's team hold a 3-8 record in dual meets, but the Boilermakers recently defeated Michigan State 158.5-102.5.

Senior Paul Ricard had another outstanding performance winning the 1000 freestyle by over three seconds and the 500 meter freestyle in a battle against Cincinnati's Nathan Williams by only one tenth of a second. Freshman Darin Smith also added points for Miami in the 1000 meter freestyle with a third place finish and a new personal best time of 9:40.00. Junior diver Chris Heaton added first place finishes in both the one and three meter dives.

The women's swimming and diving team started "Rivalry Week" with a decisive victory as well, defeating the Bearcats 152.5-86.5. The women's 200 medley relay team kicked off the meet with a first place finish, followed closely by junior Jenn Flaherty's win in the 1000 meter freestyle. Junior Malarie Schmidt led Miami's 1-2-3 sweep of the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.10. Finally, the women sealed their lead over Cincinnati when freshman Miranda Kaltenborn beat her previous personal best time by over five seconds in the 500 meter freestyle when she touched the wall at 5:05.44.

After their joint road trip to West Lafayette, Indiana, the men's team travels to Buffalo and the women travel to rival Ohio on Saturday, Jan. 26. Both meets begin at 1 p.m.
