ATHENS, Ga. - On the final day of the Georgia Invitational in Athens, Ga., the seven athletes from the Miami University women's swimming and diving team placed four swimmers in the finals and concluded the three-day meet in sixth place with 88.5 points. The host team and top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs took home the team title with 1007.5 points.
At Garbrielsen Natatorium on Sunday, four different athletes placed in the finals, led by Margaret Patrick's (Marietta, Ga./Holy Innocents) seventh-place showing in the "B" final of the 100 free. Patrick clocked in at 52.34, her fastest time of the season. In addition, junior Maggi Bulla (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) also posted a season-best time in the 200 back, posting a 14 th-place time of 2:05.48.
Other Miami swimmers to place in the finals included senior Katie Unger (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) who placed ninth in the "C" final of the 200 breast, and senior Katie Forster (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) who was the top finisher in the "C" final of the 200 fly.
Miami's relay squad also tallied a 13th-place time of 3:33.44 in the 400 free relay.
After first-place Georgia, Cal (905 points), UCLA (763), Virginia (459), South Carolina (448), Miami (88.5), Tennessee (76) and Auburn (76) rounded out the women's team standings.
