WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Miami's women's swimming team was overwhelmed Friday night by Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. by a score 184-116, but that did not prevent it from coming away with some outstanding individual performances, as four swimmers won an event.
Against the Boilermakers, a pair of freshman really raised some eyebrows. Michelle Reynolds (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) took first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.71, while Trisha Lamb (Oregon, Ohio/Notre Dame) won the 200 backstroke in 2:04.74. Not to be outdone, a couple seniors also asserted themselves, as Kelly Janura (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) swam to victory in the 50 free with a time of 24.41 and Emily Nayes (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) beat the field in the 200 breaststroke, turning in a 2:22.76 clocking.
The team is in action at home Saturday, Nov. 3 against Ball State and Northern Illinois.
