Final Stats

OXFORD, Ohio- Miami University's women's swimming and diving team won thirteen of the fourteen events; sweeping four events en route to a 180-80 win against Xavier on Saturday afternoon. The RedHawks improve to 2-1 on the season.

Kasey Carpenter, Allison Way, Sarah Radke had top times in the both 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle, with respective first-, second and third-place finishes. Freshman Chelsey Bruington (0:53.47), Maggie French (0:53.59) and Carly Gibson (0:54.14) swept the Musketeers in the 100-yard freestyle. Malarie Schmidt, Allison Stevens and Alyson Schmidt took home the top three places in the 100-yard butterfly, respectively.

Bruington (10:34.54) finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle with Kelsey Vehr finishing second in a time of 10:38.65. Paige Iversen and Claire Fogarty took first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke, respectively, with Iversen touch the wall in a time of 1:07.95.

Additionally, Stevens had a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:07.62, while Malarie Schmidt finished first in the 50-yard freestyle in 0:24.36 and Alyson Schmidt placed first in the 100-yard backstroke in 0:58.79. Miranda Kaltenborn won the 400-yard IM in 4:42.24.

 

 

The RedHawks also had a top finish in the 400-yard medley with the team composed of Malarie Schmidt, Megan Brunn, Allison Way and Stevens in a time of 3:53.94.

Miami opens Mid-American Conference action when it travels to Buffalo for a 5 p.m. meet on Friday, Oct. 31.
