Miami University's Kelsey Vehr barely missed earning All-America honors in a second event Saturday, placing 18th in the 200 breaststroke competition at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Purdue University.

Her time of 2:11.84 was just 21 one-hundredths of a second slower than the 16th-best clocking. The top eight times swim in the championship finals and win All-America honors, and placers nine through 16 earn berths in the consolation finals for honorable mention All-America acclaim.

On Friday evening, Vehr finished seventh in the finals of the 100 breaststroke, becoming Miami's first-ever women's All-American.

The following is her final postcard from the NCAA meet:

Done, honey, DONE! I am writing this blog as the happiest All-American Miami girl alive!

I had such a fun weekend! Today was no exception. My teammates Megan Brunn, Allison Way, and Jenna Long came up to surprise me and see me swim! It was so good to see them and have more Miami girls here in West Lafayette.

I had a great swim this morning in the 200 breaststroke. I went a 2:11.84, my second best time ever. I felt awesome in the water, I would have loved to have another swim but I am so happy to end on that! Mark and Dave were really happy with my swim as well. I hopped out of the pool and watched the remaining 2 heats of 200 breaststroke to see if I could make it back at night but unfortunately my time just wasn't fast enough. I couldn't ask for anything more though, I now know my 2:11 at MACs wasn't a fluke! Haha!!

Anyways, that's about all I have to say. I couldn't be prouder to be a RedHawk and can't wait to get back to Oxford to see everyone! I love and miss you all so much!
