INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Miami's women's swimming and diving team maintained its third-place position, amassing 396.50 points, while the men fell to sixth with a score of 199.50 Friday at the Midwest Conference Classic. Senior Megan Wyatt (Barrington, R.I./Barrington) became the RedHawks' first winner at the meet, taking the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.57.
Also on the women's side, juniors Kelly Sexton (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills) and Sarah Brodbeck (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) took second in the 200 free (1:55.47) and 100 back (1:00.16), respectively. Miami's 200 medley and 800 free relays also placed runner-up, while freshman Lauren Sikes (Nashville, Tenn./Christ Presbyterian Academy) and Sexton grabbed third-place finishes in the 100 fly (58.97) and 100 back (1:00.24), respectively.
The top men's performances came from sophomore Mike Pater (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) and freshman Dustin Snow (Dublin, Ohio/St. Charles), who came in fourth in the 400 individual medley (4:13.77) and 100 breast (59.26), respectively.
The final day of competition is Saturday, Feb. 15, with sessions at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
