Oxford, Ohio - In its last home meet of the season, the Miami University women's swimming and diving team lost to MAC rival, Eastern Michigan, 159-141, in their second dual meet of the weekend. The meet marks their first home loss of the season. Before the meet, seniors Kathryn Stephens and Kristen Bezier were honored for their final competition at the Nixon Aquatic Center.

The RedHawks started out strong, winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:46.91. Freshman Miranda Kaltenborn put more points on the board when she won the 1000 free by more than 10 seconds, finishing in her fastest time of the season, 10:24.27. Junior Malarie Schmidt took firsts in the 100 back, 200 back and 200 individual medley with respective times of :57.90, 2:05.92 and 2:08.19. Stephens and freshman Nicole Roddenbery went 1-2 in the 100 fly, with times of 57.18 and 57.57, respectively. However, the RedHawks still came up short trailing by nine going into the final two events.

Not only was today highlighted as Senior Day, but it also marked the end of a 24-year era for referee John Grunwell. Grunwell was added as a Miami staff member in the fall of 1984, and, in a speech by Miami men's head coach Pete Lindsay, was said to have never missed a dual home event.

Miami will travel to Muncie, IN to take on Ball State on Feb.9 for its last dual contest of the season.
