NEWPORT, Ky. – The Miami University softball team will be participating in the annual Bras Across the Bridge charity event Friday to raise funds awareness for the Susan G. Komen Quest for the Cure. The event is sponsored by WKRQ 102.9’s “Jeff and Jenn Mornings” program as well as Newport on the Levee.

Jeff and Jenn are collecting bras along with five dollar donations all week long at Newport on the Levee and will string them across the entire span of the Purple People Bridge Friday morning. The softball team has been raising funds and will be there to assist with the raising of the bras across the bridge starting at 7 a.m. WKRQ will be broadcasting live from the event from 8-8:30 a.m.

"The team is excited to be a part of such a huge event with Q102 and the city of Cincinnati,” said head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly. “We have unfortunately lost members of our softball family to breast cancer and still have others that are battling the disease, so this cause is very near and dear to our hearts. The entire athletic department has been supportive of our team and their desire to help this cause."
