OXFORD, Ohio - Members of Miami University's softball team make up one quarter of the Mid-American Conference's 16-person all-star roster that will face Team USA at Ashland, Ohio on Monday, June 23, at 7 p.m.

Senior outfielder Breanna Robinson (Toledo, Ohio), sophomore outfielder/catcher Alicia Hogl (Bellingham, Wash.), sophomore shortstop Sarah Billstrom (Douglasville, Ga.) and freshman second baseman Meghan Mawn (Long Beach, Calif.) will represent the MAC in the game against the team that will play on August 12 at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Robinson was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Mideast Region first-team after a spectacular senior campaign that saw her set a number of school records. She holds Miami's single-season records for home runs (11) and runs batted in (51). Robinson led the Mid-American Conference in home runs (11), slugging percentage (.712) and total bases (102), and ranked in the league's Top-10 for batting average (.366 - second), hits per game (1.12 - third), doubles (12 - tied-third), triples (4 - tied-second), and runs batted in (51 - second).

Hogl earned All-Mideast Region second-team accolades with an impressive sophomore season for Miami. One of three RedHawks to start all 50 games, Hogl had a breakout season in 2008, improving her batting average by 84 points over her freshman year to .327. Hogl led all Miami players in multiple-hit games with 17, including a four-hit performance at Eastern Kentucky.

Billstrom had a big year at shortstop for the RedHawks this season, setting new career-highs in batting average (.340), at-bats (141), runs (20), hits (48), doubles (10), home runs (2), RBI (20) and stolen bases (12). In MAC play, Billstrom had the sixth most hits (25) by any player in the conference, and ranked third in the league for doubles with six.

Mawn, the league's Freshman of the Year, set the conference ablaze during her rookie campaign, hitting .412 in MAC games this season, placing her third in the league for batting average. Mawn had an on-base percentage of .474 for the MAC campaign. She finished in fifth place in the conference in that category.

Miami head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly called her players' involvement in the game against Team USA "a once in a lifetime opportunity."

"I could not be more thrilled that we will have four Miami RedHawks in this game," said Schoenly. "This is the first time and probably the last--due to the elimination of softball as an Olympic sport after the Beijing Olympics--that we will have players on our roster represent us against the national team. I hope they soak in every last second!"

Hogl echoed her coach's comments, saying "I can't wait to represent my school and the entire Mid American Conference. This is every girl's dream. With softball being part of my life for as long as I can remember, this is the ultimate goal that is finally becoming reality."
