HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (May 5, 2000) -- Miami University's softball team dropped its fifth in a row Friday night, falling 6-2 at Marshall University.

After falling behind 5-0 in the first four innings, the RedHawks made their only serious comeback attempt in the sixth inning. Junior Mary Neal scored on a passed ball for Miami's first run, and junior Kristina Mortaloni singled home sophomore Keri Brisnehan for the RedHawks only other tally.

Sophomore Abbey Arnold absorbed the loss for Miami, surrendering six runs off seven hits. The loss dropped her to 7-14 on the year.

Sara Gulla earned the win for the Thundering Herd, which advanced to 23-25 and 11-7 in the Mid-American Conference.

Miami, which stands at 16-28 and 5-13 in the MAC, concludes its season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Marshall.
