Miami opened up a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the first game when Nicki Pelfrey nailed an RBI double, knocking in Keri Brisnehan. Kristina Mortaloni then singled to score Pelfrey on the following at bat.
Bowling Green, however, put together a two-run rally in the third inning to tie the score 2-2 off a Jen Domshot two-RBI triple. Te Falcons then gained a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning when Erin Zwink knocked in Colleen Bates on a single.
The RedHawks, though, produced two runs in the bottom of the inning to leave the final tally 4-3 in favor of the Hawks. Mortaloni doubled to lead off the inning and scored on Jody Kermode's single, which tied the game. With bases loaded in the sixth inning, Laura Fulton entered the game to pinch hit and was hit by a Jessie Milosek pitch to scored Kermode.
Abbey Arnold earned the win in the first game, pitching a complete game. Brisnehan, Mortaloni, Erin Taylor and Kermode each had two hits for the RedHawks.
In the second game, Bowling Green scored two runs in the first inning, then unleashed nine runs in the top of the third to take a 10-0 lead. Miami placed its first run on the board in the bottom of the third when Pelfrey doubled to score Brisnehan. The Falcons tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning, while Miami added one more in the bottom of the inning. BGSU's Jen Domshot hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to up the Falcon lead. Miami was able to score two final runs in the last of the fifth to leave the final score 15-4.
Amber Arnold earned the loss for the RedHawks in the circle and BGSU's Andrea Genter picked up the win.
Miami hosts Akron in a three-game series this weekend. Friday's single game is slated for 3 p.m. and Saturday's double-header is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
