Miami's homecoming after a five-week roadstand wasn't very favorable as the RedHawks dropped a double-header to Northern Illinois (13-12; 2-0 MAC) to open up conference play, losing the first game 2-0 and the nightcap 9-0 in six innings.

In the first game, Miami held the Huskies to no runs until the fourth inning when NIU scored a run to take a 1-0 lead. The Huskies scored their second and final run in the fifth inning to make the final tally 2-0. Keri Brisnehan, Jody Kermode, Laura Fulton and Erin Taylor each had hits for the 'Hawks. Amber Arnold pitched a complete game, throwing nine strikeouts for Miami. She gave up two runs off six hits.

Northern Illinois' Suzie Rizek took control of the second game, going 3-for-3 with four runs and seven RBIs. Rizek hit three homeruns to lift the Huskies to the 9-0 win.

Brisnehan was Miami's lone player to tally multiple hits with two in three at-bats. She also recorded two stolen bases. Abbey Arnold pitched most of the six innings, giving up seven runs (five earned runs) and eight hits. She threw five strikeouts.

Miami (9-17; 0-2 MAC) continues its home weekend at 1 p.m. tomorrow with a double-header against Western Michigan.
