OXFORD - Senior outfielder Christine Bills was awarded Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week honors for her outstanding performance at Miami's Best Western Sycamore Inn Invitational.

Bills hit an impressive .583, and had a hit in each game over the weekend. She has reached base safely in six of the last seven games. Bills went 2-for-2 against Michigan State, and exhibited a perfect 3-for-3 outing against the Penguins of Youngstown State. Bills doubled against Toledo in Miami's 2-1 victory over its MAC rival, and ended the weekend with a single against Penn State. She is now hitting .303 for the season.

Bills and the rest of the RedHawks open their MAC schedule this Friday, March 28, with a doubleheader against the Akron Zips. The first game is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
