SACRAMENTO, Calif. (March 17) -- Miami University's softball team (8-13) ended its stint at the Sacramento State Capital Classic with a 7-2 loss to Brigham Young and a 2-0 loss to San Jose State.

Against BYU, Miami gave up seven runs off eight hits over the first three innings, which sealed the fate for the RedHawks. BYU collected four runs in the first inning and three in the third.

Laura Fulton scored Miami's first run in the fifth inning off a wild pitch, after having been walked to start the inning. Jamie knocked in the second and final RedHawk run off a single to score Amber Arnold. Carey led the Red and White at the plate, going 2-for-3. Abbey Arnold earned the loss for the RedHawks, pitching the first 2.2 innings.

In Miami's final game of the tournament, San Jose State recorded runs in the second and fifth innings to win the game 2-0. Miami could only muster four hits, led by Amber Arnold, who went 2-for-3. Amber also pitched a complete game, giving up only four hits, one earned run and walking just one.

The RedHawks take the week off before opening conference play in its home opener in a three-game series with Eastern Michigan next weekend. Miami will play a single game against the Eagles at 3 p.m. Friday, March 23. Saturday's doubleheader with EMU begins at 1 p.m.
