SACRAMENTO, Calif. (March 16) - In its second day at the Sacramento Capital Classic, Miami University's softball team posted a 3-0 triumph over Eastern Illinois and a 2-1 win versus Western Kentucky.

Angie Gerber belted a three-run home run in the first inning against Eastern Illinois to give the RedHawks the 3-0 lead, which would end up being the final tally. Abbey Arnold pitched the full seven innings, earning her third win of the season.

In the second game, Miami opened up a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Maggie Cousins singled to score Jody Kermode. The Hilltoppers knotted the game, 1-1, in the fifth inning. After two scoreless innings, the contest went into extra innings. Jamie Cary eventually scored the final run on a wild pitch. Pitching four complete innings, Abbey Arnold picked up the win, her fourth of the season.

Miami (8-11) will face BYU Saturday, Mar. 17 at 11 a.m. in bracket play.
