Miami University's softball team was prevented from winning its second consecutive tournament title, falling 7-4 to host Middle Tennessee State at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational Sunday morning.
Miami trailed 3-2 in the fifth inning but took the lead with Christy Martini's two-RBI double. The RedHawks were only able to protect the lead for two innings, though, as MTSU knocked out four runs in the pivotal seventh inning.
Laura Fulton led the RedHawks, batting 2-for-4 at the plate while tallying two runs and an RBI. Nicki Pelfrey contributed an RBI off 2-of-2 hitting on the day.
Miami fell to 6-4 with the loss.
