MURFREESBORO (March 4) - Aided by a six-run first inning and a three-run second inning, the Miami softball team downed Tennessee state 10-2 in five innings. The RedHawks, who tallied an impressive 14 hits in the game, held TSU to only five hits.
Lesley Fulton sparked the 'Hawks at the plate, going 2-for-2 with four RBIs and a run, while Amy Dudley was a perfect 3-for-3. Kristina Mortaloni went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, and Erin Kucera was3-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs.
Abbey Arnold picked up the win for the Red and White, leaving the game with a 10-0 RedHawk lead after two innings of work. Tyra Bowling came in to pick up the save, throwing three complete innings.
Miami (5-3) will face Belmont at 6 p.m. on Saturday and rounds out the tournament on Sunday. Game times for Sunday will be determined by tournament seeding following Saturday's final contest.
