RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 17) -- Continuing its stint at the UNC Triangle Classic, Miami University's softball team split a pair of games. The RedHawks fell to Radford in eight innings, 5-4, to round out pool play. Miami began bracket play with a 5-0 triumph over Rhode Island.

In first game, Miami came back to take a 2-1 lead over Radford in the fifth inning when Jamie Carey hit a double to drive in Keri Brisnehan. Kristina Mortaloni then double to score Carey. Radford then launched a solo home run in the sixth inning to knot the score, 2-2.

After a scoreless seventh inning, Radford rattled off three runs in the eighth. Miami tried to rally, but fell short. Jacki Molinaro doubled to score Carey. After Molinaro stole third, Amber Arnold hit to the pitcher, who threw her out at first, however she scored Molinaro to make the score 4-5. That would be the final tally.

In the second game, Miami took a 1-0 lead in the third, collected three runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth to claim the 5-0 win over Rhode Island.

With bases loaded in the fourth, Amber Arnold was hit by a pitch to knock in Molinaro. Angie Gerber then singled to score Mortaloni and Pelfrey.
