A former standout shortstop with the Red and White, Bianca Paz enters her first season as a volunteer assistant coach at Miami. Paz was a two-time MAC All-Tournament selection and helped Miami win its first MAC softball title in 2005 when the RedHawks downed Marshall in the MAC Tournament and earned their first trip to the NCAA Tournament.

PAZ AS AN UNDERGRAD

2006: Made all 51 of her starts at shortstop ... set new career highs in RBIs (22), triples (3) and home runs (3) ... ranked second in the MAC in triples and eighth in stolen bases (11; 0.21 stolen bases-per game) ... led the team with 11 stolen bases ... ended career ranked fourth all-time in doubles (29) and tied for third in stolen bases (40) ... finished third on the team with 24 runs scored ... notched second career four-hit game with a 4-for-4 day against Belmont (Feb. 26) ... drove in a career-high four runs against Belmont ... slammed go-ahead, two-run home run in top of the seventh inning of a 5-3 win over East Tennessee State (Feb. 25) ... also left the yard against Gardner-Webb (March 4) and Kent State (May 5) ... tied for second on the team with 11 multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games ... scored two runs in a game on six occasions ... finished fourth on the team in hitting (.315 batting average) in non-conference play ... had a pair of three-RBI games against Texas State (Feb. 18) and Toledo (April 14).

2005: All-MAC Tournament Team ... started 55 games, all at shortstop, playing 56 ... earned conference tournament honors for the second year in a row, highlighted by a 3-for-3 day against Central Michigan (5/12) with three runs scored and a home run, the first of her Miami career ... the game was the last of three multi-RBI and nine multi-hit efforts on the season ... also went 3-for-3 in Miami's MAC-opening win over Kent State (3/26) ... made the play on 160 of 174 chances in the field ... led Miami in stolen bases, with 14 on 15 attempts.

2004: All-MAC Second Team ... MAC All-Tournament Team ... one of four RedHawks to play in 50 games, starting 49 ... led the team with 24 runs, 12 doubles, 58 total bases and 15 stolen bases ... 46 hits leads all returners ... had 13 multi-hit games, including five in a row in the last four games of the regular season and the first game of the MAC Tournament ... went 7-for-7 in a doubleheader sweep of Northern Illinois (5/9) ... opening game of the twinbill was one of three multi-RBI efforts, with the others against Akron in a 6-1 win (4/4) and Butler (3/25) in a 2-0 win ... went 3-for-3 in the second game of a doubleheader against Kent State (5/1) as part of a 5-for-6 effort for the day ... started the season stealing a base in each of the first five games ... scored two runs in each of five games, the last of which against Ohio in the MAC Tournament opener was the end of a six-game scoring streak.

Prior to Miami: Batted .335 with a team-leading 36 RBI and 14 stolen bases as a freshman at Howard Junior College ... was named first-team all-district three times ... selected to play in the North-South All-Star Game ... finished in the top 10 in the state of New Mexico in batting average ... as a sophomore, struck out once all season ... lettered three times in both softball and volleyball ... helped Las Cruces to back-to-back 5A state championships ... graduated in the top 10 percent of a 560-plus person senior class.
