Assistant Coach
Jennifer Piper

Two years ago, Head Coach Angie Jacobs invited Jennifer Piper to join her as an assistant coach at Miami University. Since that time, after acclimating themselves to the Mid-American Conference, the two embark upon the challenge of turning the RedHawk program back into a winner.

Piper joined the Miami staff in the fall of 1998, becoming Angie Jacob’s first addition to her coaching staff. The 1995 graduate of the University of Oregon came to Miami after a three-year stint as the head coach at her prep alma mater, South Eugene High School in Eugene, Ore.

“I am very fortunate to have Jen join me here at Miami University,” says Jacobs. “Jen’s sheer love and enthusiasm for the game is second to none. She is a tremendous student of the game, which makes her an excellent teacher of the game. The wealth of knowledge she brings to the program is invaluable. Jen reminds us all to keep it simple and have fun.”

In addition to her primary coaching focus with Miami’s infielders, Piper coordinates the RedHawks’ team travel and is Jacobs’ right-hand in the recruitment of student-athletes. She has a hand in all areas of the program, and has played an integral role in the team’s rebuilding process.

As a player at the University of Oregon, Piper was a two-year captain and earned second-team all-region honors after her sophomore campaign in 1992. Finishing her career seventh on Oregon’s all-time list in games played (197), sixth in runs scored (70) and fifth in hits (146), she garnered Oregon’s Scholar-Athlete award in 1992. Piper ended her career with a .919 fielding percentage, including a .957 percentage her junior season.

Piper also was an ASA Women’s ‘A’ National Utility all-American in 1994. She is currently working toward her master’s degree in educational leadership and curriculum at Miami.
