Dec. 12, 2002

OXFORD, Ohio - Senior Danielle Berkemeier (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) learned on Monday that she has been named a 2002 National Soccer Coaches Association of American/adidas Women's Collegiate Division I All-American. Berkemeier becomes the second player in Miami history to be named to an NSCAA all-America team.

The Mid-American Conference all-time point leader joins teammate Andrea Cunningham, who was a 2000 NSCAA first-team all-American. Berkemeier's award is her second national award; the senior forward was a 1999 SoccerBuzz freshman all-American.

The 2002 MAC Player of the Year led the Red and White with 19 goals and 44 points this season. In addition to ending her Miami career on top of the MAC all-time point list with 148 points, Berkemeier is first on the MAC all-time goal list with 60 and ranked third with 28 career assists. Berkemeier was a four-time NSCAA all-region team honoree and all-MAC selection during her career at Miami. As a junior, Berkemeier led the MAC in points scored.
