OXFORD, Ohio - Miami women’s soccer looks to stay undefeated at home in Mid-American Conference play as they battle state rivals Akron Friday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. and Ohio Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.
AKRON
The Zips come in the weekend with a record of 7-6-0 (2-4-0) and a 1-3-0 mark on the road in conference play. The Zips are led by Britni Back, who leads the team in points with 17 and goals with seven. Jordan Baranowski leads Akron in assists with four and is second in points with eight. Akron has lost their last three in a row to conference foes. Jenn Wolbert has seen a majority of time in the net for the Zips and has a goals against average of 2.08 and a save percentage of .747. Wolbert boasts a record of 7-5-0 on the season. Katie Davis has also seen time with Akron playing in one game making three saves and allowing two goals.

OHIO
The Bobcats come into the weekend with a record 2-8-3 (1-3-2). They opened league play with a loss to Kent State 4-0 and a win against Buffalo 2-1, Sept. 26 and Sept. 28 respectfully. The Bobcats have struggled at home with a record of 0-3-2 and on the road with a 1-4-1 mark. Amy Lower leads the team in points with 12 and is also the squads’ top goal scorer with six. Jackie Hanson leads the Bulls in assists with four. Two goal keepers have seen time for the Bobcats with Jess MacLean seeing a majority of the time, recording 52 saves, posting a 2-6-2 record, and has earned a 1.56 goals-against average. Christa Puccio has also seen time in the net with 22 saves. Before they take on the RedHawks, Ohio will first travel to Muncie, Ind., Friday, to take on Ball State.

CLARKES, INC.
In the first weekend of home conference play Courtney Clarke and Krysti Clarke both posted big numbers and helped the RedHawks to back-to-back wins. In the opening game of the weekend, Courtney Clarke scored the game-winning goal with just three seconds left on the clock. Courtney Clarke was not finished as she registered two assists against Buffalo to give the RedHawks the weekend sweep.
Krysti Clark was not to be out done as she assisted on two goals during the Buffalo game and earned a mention from coach Bobby Kramig following the 3-1 win over the Bulls.
"Krysti Clarke had a very good game," Kramig said. "She has been injured and has missed some time but today we saw the real Krysti Clarke."
IN THE “ZWING” OF THINGS
Jodi Zwingelberg posted an excellent weekend to open home MAC play as she scored the game tying goal against Kent State and final goal of the game against Buffalo.
Zwingelberg posted two assists against rival Cincinnati with dishes to goal machine Sara Lund and Stephanie Laser. With those two assists, Zwingelberg equaled her 2007 point total and rocketed up the Mid-American Conference leader board. Zwingelberg surpassed her 2007 point total with her goal against Sacramento State, the junior now has four points on the campaign.
SWEET SWEDE
Sara Lund has five goals and two assists on the campaign and is only two goals away from equaling her 2007 total. She earned Mid-American Conference Player of the Week honors following her performance in the RedHawks’ season opener on Aug. 22.
Lund started the season off with a bang against Morehead State with the first hat trick of her career. After the RedHawks went down 1-0 to Morehead State, Lund put up three unanswered goals to give the Red and White a 3-1 victory. Lund scored all three goals in a hard-earned fashion. Lund scored her first goal by beating a defender and then firing a shot that hit goalie Sam Yocke and got into the net. The second goal by Lund had to be the most unlikely as she hit the near post and the ball ran along the goal line striking the far post and then entering the goal before Yocke could fall on it. The third goal of the day by the 5-foot-7 sophomore was a brilliant sliding shot.
PACE RETURNS
When Krista Pace left with an injury against DePaul, Rachelle Boff came in and did a solid job in her absence posting two eight save games and a shutout. Pace went untested in her first game back as her defense stepped up and did not allow a shot on net the entire game. In her second game against Buffalo, Pace made some great saves to move her record to 3-2-0 on the season.
Boff made only the second appearance of her career and then made the second start of her career against Louisville. In the game against Louisville, Boff made a team-high eight saves. It was the most stops by a Miami keeper in 2008. On the road trip to California, Boff posted her first career shutout against San Jose State on Sept. 21. Boff tied her career high with eight saves against Central Michigan.
FIRST TIMERS
Brooke Livingston and Stephanie Wilson both scored the first goals of their careers in the final weekend of home non-conference play. Livingston scored her goal against DePaul in the 10th minute on a header off a corner kick from Danielle Hays. Wilson scored the first goal of her career a day later against then-No. 26 Louisville. Wilson bent her goal in from the right side of the field from just inside the 18-yard box. The ball bent just inside the far post and the keeper for Louisville could only stand and watch the ball hit the back of the net.
INTERNATIONAL REDHAWKS
The Red and White have nine international players. Sara Lund, Eva Candia, Sarah Dessfelt, Nathalie Hillgren and Alexandra Karlsson are all from Sweden. Five are from Malmo, a port city on the southern tip of the country. Dessfelt is from Vellinge. Miami also has four players from Canada; Courtney Clarke, Haley Clark, Krysti Clarke and career saves leader Krista Pace.
LAST TIME OUT VS. BUFFALO
Jackie Hardek gave the Red and White the lead on goal in the 55th minute. The goal came after a brilliant cross from Krysti Clarke was headed down by Stephanie Laser, right to Hardek's foot. Buffalo evened the score, 1-1, in the 63rd minute when Lindsey Bailey launched a free kick into the back of the net from just outside of the 18-yard box. Hardek would give Miami the lead for good when Courtney Clarke crossed the ball finding Hardek near the penalty spot and she slipped it passed the keeper on the left side.
Jodi Zwingelberg would close scoring in the game with her third goal of the season and second of the weekend in the 84th minute. The goal came off another cross from Courtney Clarke and was tipped to Zwingelberg by Krysti Clarke.
In the first half, Brooke McCalla of Buffalo had a break away and beat a charging Krista Pace and fired a shot that seemed destined for goal but Courtney Elsen came flying in and made the stop.
