OXFORD, Ohio-After leading Miami University's women's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout of Marshall University last Sunday in Huntington, W.Va., junior forward Andrea Cunningham (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) has been honored as the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.

Though the two goals tallied by Cunningham over the weekend did not rank among her top statistical performances this season, the timeliness of those goals made all the difference. Facing a Marshall defense that surrenders less than a goal a match, Cunningham struck twice, leading Miami to the win and keeping the RedHawks (8-5-0, 5-2-0 MAC) in the midst of the MAC Championship race. The three Miami goals were the most tallied versus Marshall by any team this season.

"This is a tremendous honor for Andrea and her teammates," head coach Bobby Kramig said. "Coming off a tough loss at Ohio last Friday, the team really needed something to rally behind. Andrea's performance gave us a real lift, and I think it showed in the way we played as a team."

Cunningham, who has tallied 11 goals in the past 11 games, has already tied Miami's single-season records for game-winning goals (5) and multiple-goal games (4) this season. An NSCAA first-team all-America selection last season, Cunningham needs three points to become the first player in Miami soccer history to reach 100 career points. The junior needs just seven points to break the MAC career scoring record of 104 points.

Miami and Cunningham return to action this weekend with key conference bouts versus Northern Illinois University on Friday and Western Michigan University on Sunday.
