OXFORD, Ohio -
Miami University women's soccer head coach Bobby Kramig has announced the addition of Giselle Mangal, a transfer from Louisville, to the RedHawks' program. Mangal will suit up for Miami beginning in the upcoming 2010 season and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
"I've been a fan of Giselle for a long time. She scored a goal against us her freshman year and I'm delighted to finally have her on our side," Kramig said. "She'll bring additional speed, experience and attacking flair to our midfield."
Mangal, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, spent the last two years as a midfielder for the Cardinals, where she played in all 36 of Louisville's games, starting 19, including 15 her freshman year. The rising junior tallied eight goals in her two years with the Cardinals and handed out four assists for a total of 20 points in her Louisville career.
Mangal was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and selected as a BIG EAST Academic All-Star following her freshman campaign.
Mangal attended St. Joan of Arc High School in Ontario where she won four letters in basketball and two in track and field, as she was named her high school's Female Athlete of the Year in 2005. She played for the Mississauga Dixie Saints club soccer team for four years, as well, twice leading the team to the Ontario Cup finals. Current RedHawk sophomores Krysti Clarke and Courtney Clarke also played for the Dixie Saints soccer club in Ontario before attending Miami.
Mangal is the daughter of Russell and Pauline Mangal and has an older brother, Jessel, who played baseball at Niagara. She hopes to major in education.
