Miami's women's soccer team has placed two players on the Soccer Buzz all-region first-team, one player on the third-team and head coach Bobby Kramig was named runner-up for Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year according to www.soccerbuzz.com on Friday. Senior Danielle Berkemeier (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) and sophomore Ashley Swinehart (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington) notched first-team honors, while senior Andrea Cunningham (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) was named to the third team.

Berkemeier, the 2002 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, led the Red and White with 19 goals and 44 points this season. She ended her Miami career on top of the MAC all-time point list with 148 points, first on the MAC all-time goal list with 60, and ranked third with 28 career assists. The decorated senior has already been named NSCAA third-team all-American along with earning her fourth NSCAA all-region accolade during her career at Miami. This is not the first time that Berkemeier has been honored by Soccer Buzz, the explosive forward was named second-team all-region last season while also earning Soccer Buzz Magazine's Elite Team of the Week distinction twice over the past two seasons.

Swinehart, one of only five underclassman named to the first-team, has already racked up many awards this season. She has earned first-team all-MAC, academic all-MAC, academic all-Ohio, first-team NSCAA all-region and second-team Verizon Academic all-District accolades following her stellar season. Swinehart ended the MAC regular season tied for third in the league with seven assists. The starting midfielder started in all 24 games for Miami and tallied seven goals for Miami, including the game-winner over Michigan State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. This is the first time that Swinehart has been honored by Soccer Buzz.

Cunnningham, the 2001 MAC Player of the Year and 1999 NSCAA first-team all-American, found herself on the Soccer Buzz all-region team for the second time in her career. Last season, the team captain earned first-team honors. Cunningham finished second on the RedHawks with 13 goals and eight assists, respectively. The senior captain, who was named to the NSCAA all-region team for three consecutive seasons, ended her career second on the MAC all-time list in goals, second in all-time points and tied for seventh in MAC history for assists. Cunningham also earned 2002 first-team all-MAC honors.

Kramig, who holds a 76-42-7 (0.636) record as the leader of the women's team, took Miami to fifth-place in the Soccer Buzz Great Lakes Region poll, its highest rating in its six-year existence. Under Kramig's control this season, the Red and White eclipsed its highest win total at Miami and set a MAC mark with a 19-3-2 record including an 11-1-0 tab in the MAC. The 2002 RedHawks earned their first MAC regular season title, their third consecutive MAC tournament crown and their second NCAA tournament win in program history. Robert Klatte, Purdue University's head coach, earned the Great Lakes Coach of the Year award.
