Five Miami University women's soccer standouts have been honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association by being named academic all-Ohio. Seniors Danielle Altiero, (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) Shaedyn Cousino (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) and Audry Wieman (Fisherville, Ohio/Fisherville) along with sophomore Ashley Swinehart (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington)were first-team selections, while senior Katie Milligan (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) earned second-team honors.

Altiero, who has already been recognized as a first-team Verizon Academic all-district selection, first-team all-Mid-American Conference selection, third-team NSCAA all-region and academic all-MAC honoree, leaves Miami as the highest scoring midfielder in Miami history. She is majoring in art.

Cousino, who was named a Scholar All-American by the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA) during 2001, earned all-MAC and all-region honors for the fourth time in her career in 2002. A dominant presence in the Miami midfield, Cousino tallied two goals and three assists this season. She is majoring in marketing.

Swinehart, the only underclassman of the group, earned first-team all-MAC, academic all-MAC, first-team NSCAA all-region and second-team Verizon Academic all-District accolades following her stellar season. She is majoring in mass communication.

Wieman, who was the focal point of Miami's record-setting defense, took first-team all-MAC honors for the first time in her career. Thanks to Wieman's leadership, Miami shut out nine opponents, and led the MAC in goals against average, allowing only 15 goals in 20 games. She is majoring in zoology.

Rounding out Miami's honorees is Milligan, who notched MAC all-tournament honors for the third consecutive year in 2002 while maintaining a strong force in the midfield. She is majoring in marketing.

Altiero, Cousino and Milligan earned academic all-Ohio honors after last season.

As a team, Miami finished the 2002 season at 19-3-2 after getting knocked out of the NCAA Tournament by the University of Michigan, 4-0. Michigan eventually lost to defending national champion Santa Clara in the elite eight.
