OXFORD, Ohio-Three Miami University women's soccer standouts have been honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association by being named academic all-Ohio. Redshirt sophomore Danielle Altiero (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and junior Shaedyn Cousino (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) were both first-team selections, while Katie Milligan (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) earned second-team honors.

Altiero, who earlier this month was recognized as a Verizon Academic All-American second-team all-district selection, enjoyed the best statistical season of any midfielder in Miami women's soccer history. The sophomore totaled five goals and nine assists for 19 points and ranked third on the team in scoring. She earned first-team all-MAC and all-region recognition for her efforts. Altiero is an art major.

Cousino, who was named a Scholar All-American by the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA) earlier this month, earned all-MAC honors for the third time in her career in 2001. A dominant presence in the Miami midfield, Cousino was one of just two players to start all 23 games for the RedHawks and contributed two goals and three assists. Cousino's efforts earned her all-MAC, MAC all-Tournament and all-Ohio honors. She is majoring in marketing.

Rounding out Miami's honorees is Milligan, who notched MAC all-tournament honors for the second consecutive year in 2001. Milligan totaled three goals and two assists, including a game-winning goal in the MAC Semifinals, during her junior season. She is majoring in marketing.
