Final Stats

Although the weather conditions resembled that of their only loss in the past 14 games, Miami shut out Wright State 3-0 on Friday afternoon at the Miami Practice Field. Audry Wieman (Fisherville, KY/Sacred Heart) scored the game-winner for the RedHawks in the 21st minute as Miami limited the Raiders to only four shots on goal and zero in the second half.

Wieman scored the game-winner off a direct kick from just outside the penalty box. The shot was placed in the upper far-post beyond the diving fingertips of Wright State goalkeeper Emily Flohre.

The rain steadily fell on the cold afternoon as both teams battled until the 49th minute when Miami struck again. Redshirt junior Danielle Altiero (Upper Arlington, OH/Upper Arlington) found senior Danielle Berkemeier (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) 12 yards beyond the goal. The Mid-American Conference point leader quickly fired the ball into the lower far-post to give Miami a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Ashley Swinehart (Worthington, OH/Worthington) put the finishing touches on the victory when she beat Flohre one-on-one off a pass from freshman Emily Hurd (Marietta, GA/Westminster) in the 77th minute.

"We made the adjustments we needed to make in order to get a victory," said head coach Bobby Kramig. "I was pleased with our effort because it would have been easy to let the weather dictate our play."

Freshman Leigh Terry (Grand Haven, MI/Grand Haven) and Emily Smith (Louisville, KY/Male) recorded the RedHawks ninth shut out of the season on three saves. The nine shut outs tie the Miami record that was set last year.

Miami out shot Wright State 16-4 over the entire game and 7-0 in the second half.

With the victory, Miami eclipsed the 14-3-0 mark set in 1999 for the best record in Miami history through 17 games with a 14-2-1 mark.

Wright State falls to 5-7-3 on the season.

The RedHawks play their last MAC regular season game on Sunday when they host Marshall at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The game is RedHawk Women's Soccer Alumni Day along with Fan Appreciation Day.
