OXFORD, Ohio - Eastern Michigan topped Miami 5-0 on Friday to open Mid-American Conference play in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Eastern Michigan posted four second-half goals starting with a goal by Brandi Wood in the 67th-minute, followed by a 69th-minute goal by Chelsea Detrick and a goal in the 70th-minute goal by Katie Lozar. Detrick closed scoring in the game with a goal in the 87th minute.

The RedHawks fell behind the Eagles in the 18th minute, when Katie Zundel found the net off a pass from Stephanie Janssens. Zundel earned her first goal of the season on a header that beat Rachelle Boff (So., Naples, Fla.) and ended Boff's scoreless streak of 145:40 of shutout soccer. Miami made a push to get the equalizer before the half but Jackie Hardek (Sr., Wheaton, Ill.) was stopped by Eastern Michigan keeper Maggie Manville and shot by Danielle Hays (Sr., Apex, N.C.) missed wide of the net.

Miami plays its next game on Sunday when it travels to Mont Pleasant, Mich., to take on the Chippewas of Central Michigan at 1 p.m.
