OXFORD, Ohio - Led by a record-breaking three-assist outing from sophomore midfielder Danielle Altiero (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and two goals from junior forward Andrea Cunningham (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley), Miami's women's soccer team picked up its first win of the 2001 season Friday, blanking Wright State University 3-0.

After scoring just one goal each in a pair of season-opening losses last weekend, Miami's offense found high gear early against the Raiders. Junior forward Danielle Berkemeier (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) lit the scoreboard first, converting the first of Altiero's three assists with a goal at 15:51.

Cunningham stole the spotlight from there, tallying her first goal of the season at 23:06 and striking again, less than three minutes later, with the game's final goal. Miami goalkeeper Katie Karlander (Carmel, Ind./Syracuse) earned her first win in the Red and White, making five saves in the shutout.

"I was really pleased with our effort," head coach Bobby Kramig said. "Though we still have some work to do, we were much better about finishing our chances tonight."

Miami, 1-2 on the season, looks to pull itself back to .500 Sunday when it travels to the University of Louisville to close out a four-game season-opening roadstand.
