Steve Tabar (pronounced: TAY-bar) is in his first year at Miami, after joining the RedHawks' soccer staff in July of 2009, and will serve primarily as the goalkeepers coach. Tabar brings considerable experience to the Miami program, both as a player and a coach, having played professionally and coached athletes from across the region.

Since 2005, Tabar has served as, and will continue to serve as, the head goalie coach for Ohio South Youth Soccer Association (OSYSA), which is a member of U.S. Youth Soccer and the U.S. Soccer Federation. While working for OSYSA each spring, Tabar has helped players from across the state advance to the Midwest regional level of U.S. Soccer's Olympic development program. For the last two summers, he has also been on the U.S. Youth Soccer Midwest regional goalkeeping staff, coaching and training goalkeepers as part of the U.S. Olympic development program.

In addition to coaching and developing young soccer talent, Tabar was a keeper for the Cincinnati Excite of the American Indoor Soccer League during the 2007-08 season. He also played goalkeeper for four years in college - the first two at Cincinnati State, where he was an all-conference goalkeeper, and the final two at Northern Kentucky University.

Tabar has also helped coach soccer in the Mason City School District (near Cincinnati), where he has been a health and physical education teacher since the 2005-06 school year.

Tabar earned his bachelor's degree in education from Northern Kentucky in 2005. He is a native of Hamilton, Ohio and attended Colerain High School.
